Project SLICED
Project
Project Brief
Project SLICED (Smarter Logistics Through In-Vehicle, City, and Energy Data) is an initiative funded by Innovate UK that brings together partners from the UK and South Korea. The project’s goal is to examine how smart city data can enhance the safety, efficiency, and environmental impact of logistics operations.
Cenex, as a not-for-profit research organisation with expertise in supporting fleets and cities in the net-zero transition, will focus on enhancing data-driven decision-making within urban logistics environments. The project involves integrating advanced South Korean in-vehicle safety systems with FPS’s Operate platform to create a comprehensive electric fleet management solution. By incorporating smart city, smart grid, and driver monitoring data, Project SLICED aims to show how fleet and city data can collaborate to enhance road safety, reduce emissions, and optimise logistics efficiency.
Objectives
Cenex’s research engages with commercial fleet operators as well as cities and regions that are using smart city technology. We seek to understand the challenges that fleets face operating in cities and how data can be incorporated into fleet management systems to improve their safety, efficiency and environmental performance. This will facilitate identification of potential use cases for a real-world demonstration.
Following the stakeholder consultation, the technology partners in the UK and South Korea will collaborate to develop a cloud-based city connected data sharing system improving logistics operational performance and the city environment.
