Environment Agency: Low Carbon Fleet Strategy
Case Study
The Challenge
Environment Agency wanted to carry their company ethos of supporting sustainable development through to their vehicle fleet, requesting a review and analysis to highlight which low carbon fuels could provide cost and environmental benefits.
The Development
A strategic review was achieved by a two-phased approach:
- First Phase: A fleet technology review was provided to deliver an assessment of which low carbon fuels could be beneficial. This review provided information on availability, opportunity, cost of ownership and environmental performance of each fuel compared to the existing fleet. The fleet technology review would indicate which fuels could potentially improve the running cost and carbon emissions associated with the Environment Agency fleet including; electric, hybrid, CNG and biodiesel.
- Second Phase: Using our Fleet Carbon Reduction Tool (FCRT), an accurate comparison of the cost, fuel consumption and emissions performance of each identified technology was undertaken using real-world drive cycle data collected.
