Cenex pledges support to East Midlands only youth hospice charity
Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People says Cenex partnership will help more children suffering life-limiting or life threatening illness
Loughborough, UK – 6 February 2017: Cenex – the UK’s first Centre of Excellence for low carbon and fuel cell technologies, based on Loughborough University’s Science and Enterprise Park – today announced Rainbows Hospice for Children and Young People as its 2017 Charity of the Year. Based in Loughborough, Rainbows offers hospice care to children across the East Midlands, providing specialist respite, palliative and end of life care services to hundreds of children suffering life-limiting or life threatening illness in the area.
As the only hospice centre for children in the East Midlands, Rainbows provides much needed support to East Midlands children and families whose lives too-often revolve around hospital visits, long-term care plans, and everyday battles against the ravages of illness or disease. Through the support offered by businesses including Cenex, more children in the region will have access to Rainbows’ music therapy, specialised nursing care, on-site kitchen to enjoy family meals, and medical experts to provide end-of-life and respite care.
Commenting on the partnership, Robert Evans, CEO at Cenex, said, “The Cenex team was inspired by the work Rainbows does in supporting children and young people within our community. The work this local charity does in child and youth hospice care is paramount to improving the quality of life for hundreds of children and families from across the East Midlands. We hope our support will help Rainbows to continue the excellent work they do.”
Rainbows Corporate Fundraiser Tom Stanyard added: “We would like to thank Cenex for thinking locally and making Rainbows its 2017 Charity of the Year. It is wonderful to know that the same organization that is working to make our roads and air clean for future generations is also helping to improve the lives of some of the East Midlands’ most special children. We look forward to working with Cenex and its employees to raise money for the hospice. All of the generous donations we receive through this partnership will go towards our vital work at the hospice.”
